TWENTY-FOUR year old Naomie Samuels will represent Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) at the National Amerindian Heritage pageant billed for the National Cultural Centre on Friday, September 16, 2011. According to regional coordinator Juliet Gomes, the 24year-old Samuels was chosen following a preliminary competition held on Saturday July 30, 2011, at the Interpretive Centre, Santa Mission where two other persons took part.
Samuels who attended the Santa Mission Primary and West Demerara Secondary schools is the eldest of four children who aims to become a Medical Doctor. She worked at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation as a laboratory aid in 2004 and is currently a final year student at the University of Guyana pursuing a degree in Medical Technology.
Responding to how she sees herself at the National Pageant, Samuels says she is very confident of copping the crown this year.
