TWO Berbice women, Roseanne Campbell and Donna Josiah, will face trial before Magistrate Roby Benn at New Amsterdam Court, following a physical clash between them.
Campbell, a mother of four who was, allegedly, beaten with a piece of wood after an exchange of words with businesswoman Josiah, on August 13, in Pitt Street, New Amsterdam, was granted $10,000 bail on an unlawful assault charge. Her alleged attacker, Josiah, who is charged with unlawfully wounding her, was ordered to post a $25,000 bond, also until November 18.
At their Court appearance yesterday, Police Corporal Orin Joseph, prosecuting, said, the two defendants share an adjoining shop and Josiah accused Campbell of inscribing the words ‘Horse face’ on the door of her business premises.
On August 13, Campbell, a saleswoman for 12 years, was speaking to her employer, when derogatory remarks were thrown at her and she responded.
Minutes later, Josiah armed herself with a stick and struck Campbell several blows about the body, resulting in the latter having to receive several sutures to various parts of her head at New Amsterdam Hospital, the prosecutor said.
