Angoy’s Avenue woman found with marijuana in crotch
KARREN Small, who is alleged to have been busted with 22 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) concealed in her private parts, was remanded to prison yesterday by Adela Nagamootoo at New Amsterdam Court.
The defendant, 21, of Patrick Dam, Angoy’s  Avenue, also in New Amsterdam, was arrested on suspicion that she had the prohibited substance in her possession, said Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting.
He said police ranks, acting on a tip-off, went to the squatting area on the eastern fringe of the township and, on entering a shop, saw Small taking something from one of the shelves and leaving the building.
When questioned, she denied having anything illegal but was invited to Central Police Station, where a policewoman carried out a search of her and, after her underwear was removed, 15 zip locked packets containing leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, fell from her person unto the ground, the prosecutor told the court.
Small is expected to return to court on September 6.
