… 17th edition of Friday Night Fights
THE Big Bang Theory, which for years scientists have struggled to understand, is expected to be figured out easily when heavyweight boxers Pauline London and Veronica Blackman clash in the 17th edition of Friday Night Fights on August 26 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The two `Big Girls’ will match gloves in a four-round encounter on a card that has three other professional fights scheduled. It will be the third time that the two corpulent `bangers’ meet in the ring and London will be seeking to turn the tables, having lost the previous two bouts.
The main event, scheduled for 12 rounds, puts Kwasey Jones against Barbados- based Guyanese Cleveland Fraser. At stake is Jones’ national light heavyweight title.
Lightweight champion Revlond Lake will face Cecil Smith while Clive Atwell, who resides in Dominica, fights Gordel Roberts, a resident of Barbados. Both bouts are over four rounds.
Meanwhile, the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association has not released the names of fighters expected to appear on the card.
However, a source close to GABA disclosed that ALBA Games bronze medallist Imran Khan is set to have his first fight on home soil since returning from Venezuela.
