THE Non Pariel murder trial voir dire (a trial within a trial) of Kennise Glasgow called ‘Zachey’ or ‘Juma’ and Dexter Headley called ‘Mas’ for the murder of Davechand Appanna, is continuing before Justice Winston Patterson. The Judge is conducting the voir dire to determine the admissibility of two alleged confession statements.
The voir dire was sparked off after the defence lawyers complained that the statements were not obtained in accordance with the judges’ rules . Witnesses who have already testified at the voir dire are Sgt. Paul Wintz of Plaisance Police Station, and Sgt. Chabrenauth Singh of Vigilance Police Station.
At the request of defence counsel Mr. Basil Williams and Mr. Maxwell Mc Kay, the witnesses are expected to produce for inspections, certain documents including the Station Diary, Occurrence Book, and Property book for June 2006.
Prosecuting in the matter are Ms. Techana James-Lake and Miss Zamilla Ali.
Notably in court yesterday was Mr. Justice Stanley Moore, a Guyanese, who is home on holiday.
The hearing continues today.
