GREGORY Forde (no address given) was sentenced to six months imprisonment and fined $15,000, by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, Thursday, on conviction for assault and using threatening language. The prisoner pleaded guilty to both charges, admitting that, on July 29, in Kingston, Georgetown, he assaulted Madonna Narine so as to cause her actual bodily harm and made use of threats to her.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said Forde and Narine are both employees of the same employer and were at work when the former accused the latter of calling his wife and informing her of about his alleged affair.
The prosecutor said, as a result, the duo had an exchange of words, during which Forde then pushed Narine to a wall, dealt her several cuffs to the body and told her he is going to get someone to kill her.
Given an opportunity to speak, Forde told the magistrate Narine was upset because he, allegedly, sent her husband a text message about them having an affair. He added that he, later, went to the office to confront Narine and, when he was leaving, she attacked and slapped him. He pushed her twice and dealt her a slap.
Before imposing sentence, the magistrate asked Forde if he had any final words and he replied:“I don’t know what to say”.
If he does not pay the fine, he would have to spend another two weeks in prison.
Narine, who was also charged with assaulting Forde to cause him actual bodily harm, pleaded not guilty and her case has been transferred to another court for October 17.
Meanwhile, she is on $15,000 bail.
