THIS will be my only response to Maxwell’s fallacious argument about his skewed perception of the PPP. It must be made clear that Maxwell’s argument is an exact replication of Guyana’s history where the US and the UK in their true colours divided this country with their use of agent provocateurs to create mayhem and pandemonium.
However, Mr. Maxwell wants to rewrite history in claiming that the PPP has never been multi-ethnic in its composition while the founding members of this institution speak a different story should one examine their multi-ethnic origins.
That the composition of the hierarchy of government and party in its current multi-ethnic nature cannot be watered down to Maxwell’s simplistic exchange which he postulates. Again, with the forming of the Civic component, the multi-ethnic embrace of the PPP manifested itself. These are factual occurrences in plain sight. We have had Henry Jeffrey, Ministers Sukhai, Westford, Webster, Xavier and more who would add credibility to the multi-ethnic nature of the PPP. No Maxwell, it’s not an exchange or a substitute.
The PPP can now call Regions 1 and 7 their own and I can dare say soon Region 10. These areas are predominantly non-Indo enclaves, again debunking Maxwell’s argument.
That today in the PYO there is perhaps almost an equal number of non-Indians as Indians speaks volumes of the PPP’s support base. In fact, many Afro-Guyanese youths proudly sell the PPP’s newspaper, the Mirror.
This letter is not a case of trying to make the PPP seem holier than though as Maxwell suggests, but the facts speak for themselves. It was the PPP which established the Amerindian Affairs Ministry. What the PNC is or was is of no consequence since their modus operandi is well known, but do not attempt to paint the PPP in the same light. This would be most delusional of you Maxwell.
