Courts donates $300,000 to Help and Shelter

COURTS Guyana Inc., in a tangible show of support for the humanitarian organization, Help and Shelter, Wednesday donated $300,000 to assist the programme’s day-to-day activities. A cheque for the amount was issued to the organization by Courts Public Relations Officer, Zeya Nasir-Ramnauth, during a handing over ceremony at the company’s Main Street facility.

Ramnauth said that COURTS was pleased to be of assistance to Help and Shelter, which provides a haven for female victims of abuse, their children, and also female victims of human trafficking.

Eminently proud to be associated with the gesture, Ramnauth said, “As part of our corporate responsibility, Courts Guyana Inc. has continuously aided in community development in Guyana, thus standing true to our mission of ‘Bringing Value Home’.

Assuring that Courts is pleased to donate to such a worthy cause, she said the company will strive to continue to assist cases whenever possible. She also congratulated the organization for the good work it does.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of Help and Shelter, Pamela Nauth, expressed gratitude to the management of Courts, adding that the money will greatly assist in furthering the work at the crisis shelter. Such work, she said, includes counseling, the approximate 20 female victims and children there, and equipping and training them with life skills. As such, she concurred, “It is a good example of how we bring value home.”

A leader in the fight against violence in Guyana and in the provision of services to victims/survivors, Help & Shelter works against all types of violence, especially domestic and sexual violence, and child abuse. Founded in 1995, its work is widely recognised as ‘second to none’.
Earlier this year, the organisation was awarded a Medal of Service (MS).
