SHIVARCHAN Kellawan, of Campbellville, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry charged with assault.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence and particulars stated that on July 12, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kelvin Kellawan.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said that the defendant is the father of the virtual complainant; and on the day in question, they had a misunderstanding and the father picked up a chopper and hit Kelvin on his ear.

Kelvin made a report and the defendant was subsequently arrested.
The prosecutor had no objection to bail on the grounds that the defendant removes from the home while the matter is pending in court.
The man was granted bail in the sum of $30,000, on condition that he removes from where his son lives, and he was placed on a bond to keep the peace.
The matter was transferred to another court for today.
