MAHENDRA Ally, called Rishi, left his family home at Kilcoy Settlement, Corentyne Monday, to attend a bush cook with friends.
But he never returned. He was knifed to death whilst acting as a peacemaker.
The suspect, known as ‘Cruiser’, is in custody at Whim Police Station, where he is assisting with investigations.
According to Sugeeta Dhaneshessar, called ‘Babo’, Ally’s wife of five years, her husband had left home shortly after 09:00hrs on Monday, saying he was going to a bush cook with his friends at Topoo.

‘He say he going an cook. He hurriedly left with channa, dhall, and poi leaves. He tell me for cook for me self’.
The expectant mother recalled that at 15:00hrs, she received a telephone call from a resident of Topoo, who related that her husband, a GuySuco employee, was wounded.
Hurriedly she left home, and soon saw the father of their four year old son, Krishan, lying motionless in a pool of blood, with his red shirt under his head. He was dressed in a white vest and blue pants.
The woman was devastated. She told this newspaper, ‘I feel helpless, me pregnant, me can’t wuk, I got two months more to get this baby. What gon happen to me.’
Meanwhile, reports revealed that Mahendra, Parboo, along with cousins Harry, Sham and Jarbie, were consuming alcohol under a shed, when the suspect, under the influence of alcohol, approached, using a series of expletives.
Being rebuked by one of his nephews, the suspect continued his unwelcome behaviour, and approached his relative in an attempt to assault him, when Ally intervened, pleading with him, to ‘rest yu self ’.
The suspect, a 34-year-old cane harvester of Topoo, Albion, picked up a knife which was used by the men to break ice, and stabbed Ally in the chest.
Ally was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His remains are at Ramoo Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.
Five men are currently in custody pending investigations.
