Royston Reeves, 35, of Cummingsburg, Georgetown, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a charge of simple larceny. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence and particulars stated that on June 15, he stole $190,000. using an ATM Scotia Bank card, property of Donette Lancaster.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunte, prosecuting, said that the Lancaster complainant and Reeves know each other, and on the day in question, she used her ATM card and left it at her home. He said that Reeves then took the ATM card, went to the bank, and withdrew the money from Lancaster’s account. Hunte added that a report was made and the defendant was positively identified by Lancaster from the security cameras at the bank.
The prosecutor had no objection to bail, and this was granted in the sum of $100,000.
