EVERY organisation or entity has protocols under which it operates and the Guyana Police Force is one such entity in which officers are expected to follow protocol. Some people are questioning the modus operandi that was recently stressed by the Force where designated officers are allowed to provide information to the media on anything pertaining to the operations of the Force.
The operations of the security sector are of a serious nature. It is not a sector that can be taken lightly and as such sensitive information has to be handled in a responsible way to ensure consistency and accuracy. The announcement by the Police Force that designated officers will speak to the press is not something new or foreign that should cause so much tongue wagging.
We have more serious issues to focus on and I find it funny that Raphael Trotman of the AFC thought it necessary to get on the bandwagon and criticise the police force for this.
I am sure that even Trotman and the AFC which now speak against this won’t allow just anyone from their camp to speak to the press. They would have their own protocols in place, which would only allow the designated individuals to speak to the media.
So why criticise the police force for its protocol when the fact remains that there are persons designated to provide information when the time comes?
