TWO young women, a freelance writer and an administrative assistant employed in a Water Street, Georgetown store, who have a long-standing enmity between them over a man, found themselves in the Providence Court on Monday. It was the result of an incident that occurred during the Michel Montano show, last Saturday, at Providence Stadium.
Kyrcel Williams and Arianne Gray, who, allegedly fought each other, appeared before Magistrate Leslie Sobers. Williams, on a charge of unlawful wounding and Gray charged with common assault.
They both pleaded not guilty and Williams was put on $50,000 bail while Gray was ordered to post $25, 000 surety.
The case for the prosecution is that the women, who have separate relationships with a serving Cadet Officer of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), were socialising with their respective friends when Gray, whilst dancing, bumped into Williams.
The Court was told that Williams, who had a bottle of beverage in her hands, immediately emptied the contents and used it to hit Gray between the temple and an eye.
The impact opened two wounds on the woman’s head, one of which required nine stitches.
The defendants have to be back in court on October 14.
