Preparations being made for Region Two Amerindian Pageant

THE Hinterland Department of Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supeanaam) has started to make preparations for the Regional Amerindian Pageant. Senior Hinterland Affairs Officer, Ms. Victorine Allicock said the plans were discussed at a recent meeting and Amerindian Toshoas of the nine communities across the Region were asked to consult with their respective village councils.
She said Toshaos are to meet on June 27 where they are expected to name the young ladies who will represent their villages at the contest.
The winner of the Regional Pageant will represent Region Two at the National Pageant in Georgetown.
That June 27 forum will also discuss activities to be staged for Amerindian Heritage Month in September, when their culture and craft will be showcased also in Region Two. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
