CHAIRMAN of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh told scores of residents at a Bara Cara, Akawini meeting, last Thursday, that their community will soon benefit from solar power electricity. He said several other Amerindian communities in the hinterland already have the benefit of the government’s solar power electrification programme and, in Region Two, Capoey and Tapakuma are previous beneficiaries, where every home has a panel to distribute the current.
Baksh assured Amerindians the solar power electricity will give their children opportunity to study at nights, watch television and listen to educational and news programmes on radio.
He urged parents to ensure that their children attend school regularly and make full use of all the opportunities the government is providing them to achieve their full education.
Government, recently, constructed a new, modern primary school building at Bara Cara and it is expected to be commissioned shortly. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
