A diplomatic envoy was yesterday in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital nursing a gunshot wound to the right thigh, after being attacked and robbed by two men on the Georgetown Seawall. The victim, Peter Faulhaber, is a Training Officer working with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Mr. Faulhaber who is currently working on a Caribbean project, is on a brief official visit to Guyana. He was shot around 18:00hrs on Sunday, as he was walking along the seawall, in the vicinity Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara.
Police said Faulhaber was confronted by the perpetrators who demanded his iPod. He resisted and was shot to his right thigh by one of the men. The gunman grabbed the iPod and he and his accomplice ran away.
Police are continuing their investigations.
