THE stage is set for the semi-final matches of the inaugural Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools Football Academy today, at the Carifesta Avenue Sports Complex ground.
After two months of intense action the boys and girls semi-finals will be played off in what is expected to be keenly contested encounters.
Tucville Secondary will do battle with their counterparts from East Ruimveldt Secondary in the first Girls’ semi-finals set to start at 08:30hrs.
Tucville who defeated Queen’s College 4-0 in the preliminary competition will be led by National Under-16 Netball player Tasnica Lovell, Assana McAnman and Tandica La Rose while East Ruimveldt, who also brushed aside Tutorial 4-0, will be led by Mariam Roach who has two goals so far in the competition, Jamia Alexander, Felisha Sears, goalkeeper Shonette Gaspar, and Towayne Parris.
In the second semi-final down to start at 09:45hrs, unbeaten North Georgetown will tackle Queen’s College.
Leading goalscorer Althea Holligan who has scored 10 goals from three matches will spearhead North Georgetown’s challenge with support expected from Kenisha Stewart, Jenel Brown and Anida Walker.
Queen’s College who registered one win will be depending heavily on Kadesh and Kezian Daniels, Abigal Somrah, Georgia Bacchus, Shyra Bruce and Cassandra Rogers. North Georgetown have scored 14 goals and have not conceded any.
In the Boys’ semi-finals, the unbeaten Tucville Secondary will square off with Lodge Secondary.
Tucville have scored 23 goals so far and will be looking to their inform striker Dorwin Fitter (six goals in the competition) Randy Layne (5) Colin Waterman, Vermont Monroe, Keifer Brandt and Kevin Andrews.
Lodge will be led by Nevon Haynes who has scored 4 goals to date, Mike Thorn (2 goals), Kareem Sanmogan, Kareem Johnson and Jamal Gibbs.
In Game 3, scheduled for 12:30hrs, one of the favourites and the other unbeaten East Ruimveldt Secondary will bring the curtain down when they collide with the ever-improving Christ Church Secondary.
East Ruimveldt will depend heavily on Brandon Boston and Jamal Pedro who have each scored 2 goals, Craig Hughes, Azariel Davis and Travil Prepont. Christ Church challenge will be led by Kevon Corlette who has netted 2 goals, Carlon Nurse, Nyron Joseph and Travis Fitzpatrick.
The Grand Finals are scheduled for Saturday, June 25 2011 at a venue to be named commencing with the Girls at 14:00hrs and the Boys at 15:30hrs.
