EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD Gavin Barrow (no address given) was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, for robbery with violence.
The prisoner pleaded guilty to having, on June 13, in Pike Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, robbed Natoya Maloney of one cellular phone and other valuable belongings worth a total of $17,500.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunte, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant and her sister were walking along Pike Street when the robber approached them riding a bicycle, dismounted and choked Maloney and took the articles.
The prosecutor said, following a report, Barrow was pointed out to a police patrol by the virtual complainant and her property was recovered. (N. Low-a-Chee)
