The real reasons for Kurt Mounter’s non entry into GSA

I am inclined yet again to respond to an article written by one Nigel Rogers captioned “Is rape the bailwick of one ethnic group in Guyana” published in the Kaieteur News June 13. In that article he related a story of the cricketer Chanderpaul being cloistered in his hotel room putting the finer touches to his cricketing knowledge while the rest of the West Indies team “beneficiaries of the 1834 proclamation bellied up to the first floor bar freely to explore the glories of distilled spirits. He then lambasted the writer of the foregoing text Vishnu Bishram branding him a racist. Firstly I must chide Mr. Rogers for making such contemptuous remarks of Chanderpaul an accomplished cricketer who was simply doing what he was supposed to, that is, concentrating on things cricket whilst his colleagues were not. Why castigate him for doing the right thing while at the same time forgiving others for their carousing? It goes to show the lengths some in the Afro-centric camp will go to make endless excuses for their race and herein lies the crux of the problem.
The West Indies team has a grave problem of indiscipline and Rogers knows this but he is doing the “ass-trology thing” in hiding his head in the sand by looking everywhere else rather than tackling the issue head on; in this case blaming the Indian member of the team for their ineptitude. When you have a team that requests condoms be brought up to them first thing on Island and are out partying until the wee hours of the morning, then the next day they are on the field with dark glasses dropping catches like hot cakes and getting out to strokes my niece would dare not make, then, the West Indian public will sigh and cry at the state of the team. Why single out the one who chose to do the honourable thing and make him a villain?
His rantings went into the realm of politics where he demonises a speaker for mentioning the rape of our womenfolk at the hands of PNC party hacks and the scrapping of national service.
Again this writer is trying to rewrite history by making a bland apology for the PNC regime and by extension the Black Man. Rogers knows too well the atrocities that took place at National Service Centres, it was a place where young recruits were entrusted into the hands of perverted officers some of whom were of foreign stock who later carried out some of the worst kinds of sexual and other exploitation of our women folk (and men folk) under the guise of training them to take their place in society.
Let me relate one of the many stories that took place under that system, one would recall Kurt Mounter and the great work he was doing with the animals at Camp Cocos. For his hard work and dedication in his field of endeavour Kurt was encouraged to study agriculture and become fully qualified. Due to him not having the required number of subjects for entry a letter from the base commander was required for him to be enrolled at the Guyana School of Agriculture.  The base commander did write a letter which was delivered by Kurt’s own hand to the principal of the school in question. At the interview Kurt was overjoyed and full of enthusiasm that he would now be entering an institution that would have him fully equipped to carry out his duties, however, this enthusiasm was short lived when Mr. Winslow Davidson indicated to him that the testimonial from his base commander gave a bad report which he Davidson was inclined not to accept knowing the national acclaim Kurt Mounter commanded but based on the report given to him from one who was in direct contact with the would be aspirant, he had no alternative but to deny him entry.
Kurt’s career did not come to an abrupt end because he was incompetent,  far from it. The real reason for Kurt’s refused entry at GSA was due to the fact that the base commander was having a lust for Kurt’s 19-year old girlfriend who would not accede to his demands hence the vindictive move to get rid of him and this was his opportunity. There are many other stories like the one I have mentioned earlier where individuals have suffered untold hurt and embarrassment at the hands of those who claimed to be the so called guardians of society. So persons like Rogers coming forward now and making these excuses is only opening old wounds many would painfully like to forget. The PNC regime attained notoriety in the public service wherein our women folk (and some of our men folk) had to sleep with the boss to get a job far less to get a promotion. This is the naked truth!
I shall end my discourse by addressing the age old nonsense of Blacks being marginalised while the Indian seems to be the ones who have all the wealth due to disproportionate allocation of wealth or opportunities to get wealth. This is total crap. History shows Blacks having the capacity and wherewithal to save and acquire wealth; in fact they were the front runners in this regard having ownership of lands and property. The Indians came after, long after, outstripping the Blacks at their own craft then why should I be jealous or why should I hate the Indian for this? So making derogatory remarks of a race simply because they are doing what they are supposed to do cannot hold much sway to anyone having a brain.
