I DO not believe that it is right for the Alliance for Change (AFC) to label the entire Guyana Prison Service as incompetent because there are good people within the service who work diligently and honestly and do credit to the service.
The recent incident involving the escape of prisoners from the New Amsterdam Prison is an occasional slippage which should not be used to smear everyone else. While it is an unfortunate incident, there are good officers within the service, and bad ones who need to be weeded out.
I support the condign actions against those who have erred and urge the good officers to continue to carry out their duties with honesty and in keeping with the laws that govern our dear country.
Considering that the party is contesting the upcoming elections, it would be unwise for it to start alienating potential voters by labelling the entire Guyana Prison Service in such a way.
