Fifth Batavia drug bust defendant makes court appearance

THE fifth man charged following the recent drug bust at Batavia Island in Cuyuni River, Terry James appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
The defendant (no address given), who was hospitalized when the other four made their court appearance on Monday, also pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking.
Particulars of the offence said, on June 9, he had 149 kilogrammes 638 grammes of cocaine for the purpose.
In answer to the magistrate, James said he navigates a boat.
He, like Clint Collier, Deonarine Singh, Randolph Singh and Luis Alberto Garcia was also remanded to prison until June 20.
