Guyana tackle B’dos in final today
THE Guyana National Stadium, Providence, will come alive this afternoon when the Guyana and Barbados National Men’s Rugby teams collide in the South Zone final of the 2011 NACRA 15s Rugby Championships from 16:00hrs. According to head coach of the Guyana team, Theodore Henry, his players are very much prepared for the encounter and ready to deliver come game time.
Guyana are clear favourites for the encounter following their victory over defending champions Trinidad and Tobago who defeated Barbados in the opening match of the round, two weeks ago.
Henry stated that the size factor is Guyana’s only disadvantage in this form of the game but they have been able to work with what they have and put forth more competition against the larger sides which has gotten them good results thus far.
Yesterday Guyana went through their final preparation session in the morning while Barbados who arrived yesterday got a feel of the atmosphere on the National Park Rugby ground later in the day.
