Cell phone thief jailed

LEVI Williams, 26, of Lot ‘F’ Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, was sentenced to six months imprisonment yesterday, on conviction for simple larceny. Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry inflicted the custodial penalty on him after he pleaded guilty to stealing a cellular phone, valued $35,000, property of Kurt Dickson, on June 4.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the prisoner and the virtual complainant are known to each other and the latter had left the phone to charge when it was stolen.
The convict said he has other various cases, ranging from assault to simple larceny, pending and did not want to waste the court’s time.
