THIRTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD Leonard Wynter (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with fraudulent conversion.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, between August 1 and August 31, 2009, being solely entrusted with goods valued $1.4M, to sell and return the proceed to Ram Sukhu, he fraudulently converted them to his own use and benefit.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunte, prosecuting, said Wynter is the son of the virtual complainant’s wife and he objected to bail for him on the ground that he may not return for trial.
However, the objection was overruled, with Wynter being allowed pre-trial freedom on $300,000 surety and the case was transferred to another court for June 6.
