Digicel bringing Jamaican play to NCC this weekend
DIGICEL Guyana on Friday endorsed the famous Jamaican Paul O Beale’s play ‘Ova Mi Dead Body’ which will be performed at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) this weekend.
Digicel Head of Marketing, Ms. Jacqueline James told a press conference, at the company’s Fort and Barrack Streets, Kingston, Georgetown headquarters, that it wants to give back to its customers and as such they can make a $1,500 purchase in credit to secure a ticket for the performance.
She said, as June is Father’s Month, Digicel saw it fitting to bring the play to Guyana at this time because it is family oriented and anyone can watch it.
James announced that the cast of six will also hold a workshop in the NCC from 08:00 hrs, exchanging ideas and information with the National Drama Festival local performers.
She said one of the main members of the cast, Andrea Wright, who plays Delcita, explained that the performance focuses on marriage, longevity, jobs, as well as the role of women, retirement, will, relationships, imbalance in earnings, child abuse and children development.
Wright said the play is not very predictable and is a must see, based on a Jamaican concept ‘Ova Mi Dead Body’.
She said it features six actors, three of whom were present at the press conference yesterday and informed that it is the last leg of their tour before they go to Canada and the United States and the Caribbean.
Digicel Public Relations Manager, Ms. Shonnet Moore said the NCC performancs will be on June 4 and 5. (MICHEL OUTRIDGE)
