McGill Superstar beat AYR to reach final

MCGILL Superstars defeated All Youth Redeemers (AYR) by six wickets last Saturday at the Zeeburg ground in the semi-final of the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA)-organised Country Side Agri Centre Twenty20 cricket competition.
AYR won the toss and, opting to bat first, were dismissed for 80 in 14.3 overs with Dial Singh and Chris Rampat
being the lone batsmen to reach double figures with 38 and 15 respectively.
Captain Sudesh Persaud grabbed 5-21 runs off 4 overs including a hat-trick while Abdul Razack supported with 2-18 from 3 overs.
Both Persaud and Razack returned with the bat to hit 35 and 24 respectively for McGill who reached 81 for 4 from 14.3 overs, to advance to the final where they will face Uitvlugt Superstars tomorrow at the Wales Community Centre ground and which is expected to be played under floodlights.
Thirty-six teams from across West Demerara have been competing for $500 000 in prizes and trophies in the tournament, from which favourites New Line Cavaliers (NLC) were disqualified for fielding two players in the quarter-finals who did not participate in the preliminary rounds.
