Imloch hits half-century as DCC humiliate MSC
FOURTEEN-year-old opener Tevin Imloch struck a resilient half-century as the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ‘A’ team humiliated Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by 66 runs in their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Brain Street Under-15 match at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation ground yesterday. Winning the toss and opting to bat first in the match which was reduced to a 25-over affair, due to a damp pitch, DCC ‘A’ scored 118 for 8 off their allotted overs, with Imloch who added 59 for the third wicket with Khemraj Rupee (10), leading the way with 57 (7×4, 1×6).
Extras also contributed to the Queenstown-based DCC team, with 19 as Shaquille Moseley whose bowling actions looked suspicious, took 3-12 and skipper Steven Sankar 2-16 for MSC.
When the Thomas Lands-based MSC began their reply, the pitch was beginning to dry out, which meant DCC’s Michael Shalim and Carlton Jacques who took two wickets each for 4 and 7 runs respectively, were unplayable as the MSC batsmen lost their wickets to reckless shots, leaving their team on 52-9 from 23.5 overs.
Sankar returned to top score with 14 that included a six over midwicket, before he was adjudged lbw to Jacques off the inside edge, while Rockell Reddy, who looked impressive with the ball while bowling his medium pacers, offered support with 10. (Calvin Roberts)
