A NEW hearse, costing $2.5M, has been purchased for the Suddie Public Hospital on the Essequibo Coast. Chairperson of the Management Committee, Mrs. Juliet Coonjah said the vehicle will be attached to the Suddie Funeral Parlour, which it also manages.
She said the aim is to provide an efficient service to the people of Essequibo in transporting dead bodies to and from the parlour.
Meanwhile, work on an incinerator for the hospital will start shortly and $7.8M will be expended to design and construct the facility, as well as train technicians to use and service it.
Other plans are to open a diabetic and foot care centre at the health institution, all in the quest towards improvements.
