Blyden enjoys fruitful season with RU

GUYANA’S Travis Blyden enjoyed another fruitful season with his Trinidad and Tobago’s adopted club Rousillac United (RU), whom he led to the sixth position in the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) division one championship. Blyden, who plays for the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) here in Guyana, scored 533 runs from 16 innings with a top score of 80 not out, while he took 17 wickets with his leg-spin in the two-day competition.
In the T20s he played five matches and scored 202 runs with a top score of 90 not out and took 10 wickets while in the 40 overs-a-side competition, the right-handed batsman played four games and scored 232 runs with a top score of 88 while he took five wickets.
All told, Blyden chalked up 12 half-centuries for the season while he failed to get a ton, but when asked about his performance, he said, “As captain of the team I am disappointed in myself because of having such a great start to the season and end up falling back badly with my performance which helped the team fall back two places in the two-day competition.”
However, he was high in praise for God who give him the strength to go out there and perform as the games rolled by, ensuring he ended the season injury-free and safe and while he is looking at returning next season, he also has his eyes focused on making the senior Demerara Inter-county team this year.
