PRIME Minister Samuel Hinds, who is also Minister Responsible for Mines, was informed last Friday by the Bauxite Company of Guyana Incorporated of allegations put out earlier that same afternoon by the Guyana Trades Union Congress against its General Manager.
The allegations concerned an acrimonious interaction between the manager and some workers which had occurred the preceding Sunday morning, according to a release last evening from the Prime Minister’s office.
The matter had attracted the attention of the company’s headquarters.
The Prime Minister welcomes the decision of the company’s headquarters to send officials to conduct an investigation, and also to remove the manager from the mine site, pending the outcome of the investigation, the release concluded.
