THERE appears to have been a twist in fortune for ailing Commissioner of Police Mr. Henry Greene whose condition further deteriorated yesterday, following emergency surgery on Friday, and he remains hospitalized in a very critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at a private city hospital. This newspaper was reliably informed that the Top Cop was, on Friday last, rushed to the operating theatre for emergency surgery and, up to press time last night, remained in a critical condition at the Balwant Singh Hospital in Georgetown.
According to a source, Greene was attached to a Respirator (life support) as doctors continue to monitor his condition round-the-clock.
He was rushed to the hospital earlier last week where emergency surgery was done on a ruptured blood vessel to the lower leg.
The worsening of his condition has put a damper on earlier plans for him to be discharged.
Greene, 58, has been suffering health complications lately, and has been in and out of hospital in the last few months. He was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery on Monday last, and the nation feared the worst.
There were, in fact, reports that the Commissioner had passed away on that day, which later proved to be unfounded.
