COMMANDER of ‘E&F’ Police Division, Assistant Commissioner David Ramnarine disclosed, yesterday, that a post mortem examination on the body of murder victim Montague Small is scheduled for today. The shop owner was brutally killed on May 11 at his business place, Mowaise Backdam, an isolated Konawaruk area, in Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).
Ramnarine told the Guyana Chronicle that no arrests have yet been made but investigations are ongoing and a firearm, believed to be the weapon used, is lodged with the police.
Meanwhile, Small’s corpse is at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary.
A police press release said Small, 52, met his death about 02:00 h on Tuesday.
Residents in the area responded to what sounded like a gunshot and upon checking, found Small in his shop with what appeared to be a gunshot wound on his head and the building ransacked.
They also discovered a .32 snub nose revolver with two rounds and a spent shell along a nearby trail and handed them over to the police.
