SAREGAMAPA superstars captivate audience

-at Dharmic Sabha’s Indian arrival celebrations
IN celebration of the 173rd Anniversary of Indian Arrival to Guyana the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha provided Guyanese with an unforgettable weekend of fabulous entertainment which saw performances from the best of India, Trinidad and Guyana.

On Saturday last, ZEETV’s Saregamapa Singing Superstars, Kamal Khan, Abhilasha Chellam and Bishakh Jyoti along with musicians from Mumbai, India provided the mammoth crowd at the Guyana National Stadium with a real treat, giving more than three hours of non-stop entertainment. The show started with a beautiful Ganapati Vandana performed by the Dharmic Nritya Sangh. Immediately after this, Bishakh Jyoti took to stage, captivating the audience with his wide range of selections which included old hits like Ek Haseena Thi, Chahunga Main, Kya Hua Tera Waada and an RD Burman Medley along with the rocking Baawre Baawre in which he was accompanied by the dancers of the Dharmic Nritya Sangh. Then it was Abhilasha’s turn. She immediately captured the hearts of all those present with her melodious rendering of Maula Maula and Mose Chal which she quickly followed up with the popular Laal Meri, Aaj ki Raat and Dholna.
Kamal Khan started among the audience, his powerful voice resonating with Saawre. After this, he launched into current hit song,
Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, in which he was accompanied by Nritya Sangh dancers Zahrah Alli and Jewan Ram. The large audience cheered proudly and enthusiastically as Guyanese Suchitra Rampersaud sang Sajda with Kamal. The three also performed several duets and an action packed medley of chartbusters, during which they danced with the audience, shook hands and took pictures with enthusiastic fans. The audience was introduced to Trinidadians Indar Kanhai and Nelisha Ali, who added to the magic with Do Dil and Prem Kahani.
On Sunday the entertainment continued with power packed performances from Indar Kanhaiand the Trishul Orchestra. Patrons thoroughly enjoyed the wide selection of songs performed by Indar, Nelisha Alli and Mukesh Collai.
Guyanese Rekha, Suchitra, Chevalia and Kamla also did their bit backed by the Caribbean Hotshots Band. President Bharrat Jagdeo was in attendance and he congratulated the Dharmic Sabha on the event. Also present over the two days were Cabinet Ministers Clement Rohee, Manzoor Nadir, Dr. Ashni Singh and Dr. Frank Anthony and People’s Progressive Party presidential nominee Mr. Donald Ramotar. President of the Sabha, Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud, made brief remarks on Saturday.
