Associations name squads for 2011 Arrival Day T20 competition

-Chanderpaul and Sarwan included in G’town practice squad
WITH an aim of walking away with the $400,000 cash prize that will be up for grabs to the winner of this year’s Arrival Day Committee Twenty20 one- day competition, teams that will be participating have shortlisted a strong line up.
The East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) whose team will be playing under the brand East Coast Jaguars and the West Berbice Cricket Association’s (WBCA) West Berbice Super Kings have selected their squads from which the final 11 will be chosen on game day this Sunday at the Albion Community Centre.

The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has shortlisted a squad of 25 players including West Indies middle- order batsmen Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan, along with national middle- order batsmen Leon Johnson, Vishal Singh and Gajanand Singh, to compete in a trial match.

According to the chairman of the Arrival Day Committee Abel Seetaram, preparations for the day’s action and with reigning national T20 champions East Berbice Titans included in the four team line up, fans can expect three thrilling encounters.

The draws have already been made for the day’s matches, with Georgetown Pitbulls who will be led by Sarwan, taking on East Berbice Titans whose line up is expected to include national skipper Assad Fudadin, the hard hitting Jonathan Foo, Royston and Esaun Crandon, Richard Ramdeen and West Indies ‘A’ spinner Veerasammy Permaul.

The East Coast Carib Jaguars will be led by national off spinner Zaheer Mohamed and his deputy is former national youth player Clive Andries, with Demerara wicketkeeper Joseph Perry and former national youth fast bowler Leon Scott and they will take on the West Berbice Super Kings in their first match, with the respective winners meeting in the final.
The West Berbice Super Kings line up is being coached by Kenje Sedoc and led by off spinner Krisendat Ramoo who will look to Keith Fraser, Keon Joseph, Arthley Bailey, Eon Abel, Romain Budhram and Kwesi Mentore.

The final line up for the respective teams will be chosen from

East Coast Carib Jaguars: Zaheer Mohamed (captain), Clive Andries, Wasim Haslim, Parmanand Rampersaud, Somnauth Bharrat, Vishnu Ramjit, Troy Gonsalves, Tyron English, Joseph Perry, Videshwar Lall, Emran Khan, Leon Scott, Rajamit Pooran , Kumar Bishundial. Manager is Mr. Raymond Barton and Coach Mr. Latchman Yadram.

West Berbice Super Kings: Krisendat Ramoo (captain), Arthley Bailey, Kwesi Mc Pherson, Sherwyn Mc Pherson, Kwesi Mentore, Keith Fraser, Eon Abel, Keon Joseph, Kenje Sedoc (player/coach), Stephen Adams, Romain Budhram, Davin Singh, Brentnol Woolford, Annandale Sooklall and Kelwin Bennett.

The teams for the Georgetown Pitbulls practice match will be chosen from: Ramnaresh Sarwan, Leon Johnson, Paul Wintz, Andre Stoll, Seon Daniels, Joshua Wade, Anthony Ifill, Alvin Castello, Rawle Browne, Shemroy Barrington, Vishal Singh, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Jeetendra Sookdeo, Jamal Hinckson, Pernell London, Totaram Bishoo, Jason Heyliger, Carlos La Rose, Jeremiah Harris, Raj Nanan, Carl Rambharose, Dennis Squires, Marcus Watkins, Gajanand Singh, Clevon Hyman.

Silvia Variety Store and A. Ally and Sons General Store have joined the list of sponsors for the one day competition, with the former agreeing to sponsor the man of the series prize which includes a trophy, one pair of gloves and a special gift.
