Dharmic Sabha condemns ACDA’s inflammatory statement

THE Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has unreservedly condemned the racial and threatening statements made by Mr Tacuma Ogunseye, executive member of the African Cultural and Development Association (ACDA), at a meeting held at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara and which was widely reported in the media.
A release from the Sabha said: “The Dharmic Sabha views the statement as highly inflammatory and one which can incite racial hostility in Guyana.”
“The Dharmic Sabha is of the strong view that Guyanese welcomes and cherish the peace which prevails in our country. Social peace, it should be emphasised, is one of the pillars of Hinduism. The Sabha, thus, cannot condone violence or threat of violence. Moreover, we hold the view too that peace and stability is vital for progress and prosperity of our society and the overall well-being of our people.”
“It is unfortunate that ACDA is silent on such damaging and wanton utterances from one of its executive members. The Sabha calls upon ACDA to express their condemnation and dissociate themselves from such a damaging statement.”
