Glock semi-automatic gun and 60 matching rounds found
– Man also arrested with 69 grammes of cannabis
ACTING upon information received at 12:30 hrs yesterday, police ranks from West Coast Demerara proceeded to Republic Park, East Bank Demerara where they intercepted a motor vehicle bearing license plate number, PMM 9278.
Following a search of the vehicle, one .45 Glock semi-automatic gun and 60 matching rounds were discovered in the trunk.
The driver, Ava Thompson, of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara and the passenger Leon Holmes also known as ‘Skettel’ of Mocha Arcadia on the East Bank of Demerara were taken into police custody for questioning.
According to a senior rank from the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station, subsequent to the arrest of Thompson and Holmes, information provided led the ranks to the home of Rylon Adolphus at 439 Republic Park, where a search was initiated.
While conducting the search, officers discovered $2.4 million and 30 pounds of gold hidden in soap powder buckets, the officer noted.
The members of the family who were at home at the time were taken into custody and are assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, another patrol of alert Police ranks from the West Demerara area – this time from the La Grange Police Station – were reportedly on duty in the Providence, East Bank Demerara district when they stopped 21-year-old Brian Orlando Graham. He was searched by the ranks and found to be in possession of some 69 grammes of cannabis. He is currently in custody at Providence Police Station as investigations continue.
