Lens Craft Optical/Sunburst OJ U-15 League …

Last semi-final spot to be decided today; Pele, Camptown & Flamingo seal theirs
PELE, Sunburst Camptown and Flamingo have booked their respective semi-final places in the inaugural Lens Craft Optical/Sunburst Orange Juice (OJ) Under-15 League, sanctioned by the Georgetown Football Association (GFA), and being played at the GFC Ground.
The last semi-final spot will be decided today when the final game in the Group Stage of the League is contested.

In the lone win registered yesterday, Fruta Conquerors with a final-minute strike from Rafael Edwards defeated Riddim Squad. The win takes Conquerors to 4 points. The other two games yesterday – Georgetown Football Club versus BK International Western Tigers and Pele against Sunburst Camptown, ended in 0-0 draws.
All the games on the day were exhilarating encounters but only the opening act between Conquerors and Riddim Squad produced a goal.
The mid-morning and midday heat was not a bother for the young lads who went after each other as they sought to seal their respective places in the final four which is set for tomorrow.
Undoubtedly, Conquerors’ Rafael Edwards was the hero of the day, placing his side in a very good position to take the last semi-final berth.
Meanwhile, Santos were disqualified from the tournament for playing an over-age player. A protest was submitted to the GFA by one of the clubs who lost to Santos and a subsequent investigation revealed that the player in question was born in January 1995; the cutoff date for players to be eligible is January 1994.
With this new development, Santos will forfeit the games and points they would have secured, giving the teams they lost to, full points which makes very interesting the final Group Two game today.
Flamingo move to an unassailable position at the top of this group with an unblemished record of 4 wins from as many games.
Topping Group One are Pele with an unbeaten record (3 wins 1 draw) while Camptown finished second on 6 points (1 win 3 draws) and also unbeaten GFC and Western Tigers both ended on 5 points each.
Semi-final play is on tomorrow at the same venue kicking off from 09:00 h. Pele, winner of Group One, will play for a place in the championship game against the second place team in Group Two while Group Two winner, Flamingo will square off with Sunburst Camptown in the feature game.
The respective winners will advance to the final set for Thursday at 09:00 h while the losers will compete in the third place playoff.
The winners will walk away with the champion trophy and gold medals; the losers will also be rewarded with a trophy and silver medals. The victorious team in the third-place encounter will be presented with bronze medals and a trophy while a trophy is at stake for the losing team.
A number of individual prizes are also up for grabs by the Best Goalkeeper, Most Valuable Player, Highest Goalscorer, Best Defender, Best Midfielder and the Most Disciplined Team.
