Kissoon’s obsession with the President must cease

IT seems like Freddie Kissoon is convinced that the Guyanese public owes him something. More and more, I am noticing that Kissoon is using his column to highlight and publicize his personal ambitions and personal problems.

A point to note is his recent complaints about his vehicle. Freddie goes on about how old his car is, how frequently it breaks down, and his need for a new vehicle. He even shamelessly suggested that a car be given to him. Recently, Freddie used his column to complain about being denied a duty-free concession to purchase a new vehicle. His entire column was dedicated to criticizing the government because of this.

From this one incident, Kissoon is drawing over-generalized conclusions, that everything about the current government is corrupt and fundamentally wrong. He uses the circumstances of him not being eligible for a duty-free concession as proof that the government is fascist, undemocratic and corrupt.

Kissoon is biased and selective, and his animosity towards President Jagdeo is what fuels his day-to-day attack on the government. Kisson’s obsession with the President is of such magnitude, that he even questions Jagdeo’s role in the country’s affairs, should the PPP win the next election and Donald Ramotar become the next president.

It must be stated that it is perfectly normal for a sitting president to seek advice from a former president. This has happened time and again in many different democratic countries.

Kissoon has an obsession with President Jagdeo, his presidency and the Jagdeo administration. His energies are directed towards convincing Guyanese that Jagdeo has done nothing good for their country. Has President Jagdeo done nothing good for this country? Guyanese know different. When Kissoon realizes this, I wonder if he will dedicate just one of his columns towards highlighting this.
