Charter nets hat-trick as Eagles beat Hard Knocks 5-3
THE Guinness Greatest of the Streets five-a-side football tournament continued last weekend with 12 matches at two venues in Linden.
In the results of matches played at New Silver City tarmac, Eagles defeated Hard Knocks 5-3.
Delon Charter netted a hat-tick in the 9th, 10th and 12th minutes while Deon McAllister 16th and Dexter Sealey 17th scored the other two goals for the victorious Eagles team. Wayne Milo scored a double for Hard Knocks in the 14th and 20th minutes while Linden Johnson netted the other goal in the opening minute of the match.
Amelia’s Ward Russians inflicted a 5-1 drubbing on Speighland United with Travis Waterton and Shawn Daniels both hitting in doubles while Jermaine Corlette scored the other goal. Jose Waldron was the lone scorer for United.
Goal Getters hammered Half Mile/One Mile 4-1 with Keon Bristol and Mare Chapman scoring two goals each. Charles Harvey netted the consolation goal for the losers.
Commacka defeated Fire Storm 2-0. Ateba Edmondson netted both goals.
Silver Bullet edged out Street Vibes with John Waldron hitting home the game’s winner.
Team 25 beat Sheriff Squad 3-1.
Friday evening saw several entertaining matches at Cherokee Park.
In the evening‘s action, Cherokee Park got the better of Bad Boys 2-0 with Fabian Jessop scoring the double.
Hi Stars and Star Boys drew 3-3. Tony Adams scored a hat-trick for Hi Stars while Dexter Garraway (2) and Jermaine McBean were the scorers for Star Boys.
Attackers upstaged Train Line 3-1 with Harian Harry netting a double and David Gray one for the winners while Marley Major scored for Train Line.
Bradford Richards scored the lone goal in Retrieve Unknown 1-0 win over Ripping Bullet.
South Stars, through goals from Jermaine Batson, whipped Rough and Rugged 2-0.
Pokerburg squeezed past Victory Valley Warriors 1-0 with Brian Jonas scoring the game’s lone goal.
Two more venues will be used for matches this weekend in the 32-team event, sponsored by Banks DIH through its Guinness brand.
