YWCA hosts workshop on breast cancer, HIV/AIDS

THE Vocational Training Centre in the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA),  at Lot 106 Brickdam, Georgetown, conducted a breast cancer and HIV/AIDS awareness workshop last Monday.
YWCA Secretary General, Ms. Gertrude Scott said it was part of the organisation’s  mandate of seeking to empower young women members.

United Nations Volunteer (UNV) Shadessa Primus, who is involved in the initiative, said breast cancer and HIV/AIDS are very predominant in the local society.
According to her, students of YMCA did research on the two diseases and made a presentation on their findings at the forum.
She said persons should be enlightened about the ailments all the time to promote awareness, so that they can take the necessary precautions.
Others in attendance were UNVs Milton Smith and Quaysi Millington.
