GLSC officer charged with theft, false pretence

ROBERT Parks (no address given) was ordered to post $100,000 bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with larceny by a public officer and obtaining money under false pretence.
It is alleged that, between October 11 and November 1, 2010, being employed at Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GLSC), he stole a plan, valued $3.3M, which he received by virtue of his employment.

Another charge against him said, on September 30, 2010, with intent to defraud, he obtained $70,000 from Babulall (only name stated) by falsely pretending that he was in a position to obtain a plan for a plot of land, knowing it to be false.
The indictable cases will be called, again, on May 24.
