Two refused bail on drug trafficking charges

TWO men facing drug trafficking charges were both refused bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
One of them, Shawn Fraser, pleaded not guilty to having one gramme cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose on March 31.

Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said ranks, acting on information, went to a Robb Street house where a search yielded a black plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited plant.
But the other prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Telford interjected to amend the facts and said that it was cocaine which was found.
Fraser’s case was transferred to another court, for April 7, after he was remanded to prison.
The second defendant, Warren James (no address given either) suffered a similar
fate after he denied having two grammes of the same narcotic, on March 31, as well, during a raid in Robb Street, too.
His next court date is April 7.
