Pensioner, 74, dies after tractor crushes head

COMPTON Lacon, 74, a pensioner, of Mocha/Arcadia, East Bank Demerara, was killed on the spot yesterday, when the wheels of a tractor ran over his head, crushing it and leaving brain matter splattered on Water Street,Stabroek, Georgetown.
It happened shortly after midday and attracted a large crowd of curious onlookers, some of whom may have witnessed the accident but declined to say how the victim came to be under the vehicle laden with fuel.
Relatives of the deceased said he used to live with his 100- year- old mother and was the father of five children.
The tractor driver was speechless as persons confronted him with questions but, fortunately, the police intervened.
Next to the body, which was photographed, lay a multi-coloured shopping bag as many people gasped at the gruesome sight.
Police cordoned off the scene and undertakers from Lyken’s Funeral Parlour removed the corpse.
