THE AFC recently issued a statement, denouncing in the “strongest possible terms, the suspicious movements outside the office of AFC parliamentarian Mr. David Patterson by dubious and shady characters.” Two persons, the party claimed, were caught taking unauthorized photos of Mr. Patterson’s office at Durban Backlands.
Why is photographing Mr. Patterson’s office described by the AFC as ‘unauthorized’, but photographing a government official’s house is seen by the AFC as being perfectly ok? The AFC cannot have it both ways. They should therefore choose a position, and stick with it.
More seriously, the AFC should be concerned about the allegations being made against its Shadow Finance Minister, Sasenarine Singh, who, it is claimed, is in the habit of taking bribes from a city businessman.
The deterioration of the AFC’s image and credibility, coupled with its apparent desperation to garner votes at this year’s election, has apparently led them to take remarkable positions on various issues. The promise of Parliamentary seats for members of the Diaspora, suing authorities on behalf of farmers whom they have never shown support for before, defending corrupt party members…What next AFC?
