Net Rockers AGM called for Sunday

THE Net Rockers Football Club (NRFC) will be hosting its annual general meeting (AGM) and elections tomorrow at the Wisburg Secondary School auditorium in Wisroc, Linden from 18:00 h. A release from the club’s president, Collis Griffith, yesterday, says that the officers are inviting suitably interested persons to serve on their board of executives for the 2011/2012 period.
“One of our main focuses is to strengthen our executive component so that we could be better able to fortify every other facet of our club according to our mandate and constitution.
But while this invitation is open for anyone, interested person must understand that these positions are voluntary and may often require them to give of their time, service, energy and resources and the only returns they should expect is to see the club win tournaments and move upwards,  Griffith noted in his release.
Griffith said that the club is known for promoting youth football and has designed a five-year projection plan that caters mostly for those youths since 80% of our members are under the age 23.
“Pretty soon, former Guyana National football captain Mr Charles ‘Lilly’ Pollard, who is a founder member and product of the Net Rockers Football Club will be launching his “I Got U” Foundation Football Academy, through the auspices of the NRFC, and we need to have effective leaders who can embrace these programmes because our club can benefit tremendously from them,” the Club president added.
The year 2010 was described as “decent” by Griffith with a lot of credit being given to those who have worked with the club but he proclaimed that “there are areas that we need to strengthen up and our executive structure is the first and most important area because without a proper head the body cannot function and that is why we are exploring every avenue to ensure that we have the right set of people to administrate the club because we have goals set for this club that we must achieve”.
The positions up for contention at tomorrow’s AGM are president, vice-president/s, secretary, secretary/treasurer, treasurer and two committee members.
