Linden Expo set for April 29 to May 1

THE Linden Chamber of Industry and Commercial Development (LCICD) has begun preparations for its second Annual Trade Fair and Exposition, in anticipation that it will be bigger and more attractive than the first, held last year. The Linden Expo 2011 will be staged in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and Go-Invest from April 29 to May 1, in the Egbert Benjamin Exhibition Centre, as part of the Linden Town Week observance scheduled for the last week in April.
LCICD President, Mr. Marvin Burns said the 2010 show had 48 participant companies, spawning wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, financial, business development, tourism and educational services and arts and craft, among others, with the three-day event attracting approximately 10,000 visitors, many of them Guyanese residing overseas and seeking business opportunities.
He said the LCICD has already been receiving indications of interest for 2011 from business people in similarly diverse sectors, with Brazilians among the foreigners.
Burns said to date, eight Brazilian companies have, firmly, indicated their desire to have display booths. He added: “The good thing about expositions is that people buy from people. Business people will get a unique chance to influence perceptions about their operations and products towards buying behaviour. They can network and there, usually, are follow-up interactions.
“For the ordinary visitor, it is also a chance to see what is new and there will be lots of fun and entertainment, as well.”
Burns pointed out that the Linden Expo has also been recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and is included on the calendar of national events, apart from being acknowledged by the Linden Town Week Committee/ Linden Mayor & Town Council, as having added a dynamic, new dimension to the Town Week activities.
Businesspeople and others interested in participating can contact Burns on telephone numbers 615-0165 and 444-2901 or the Secretary of LCICD, Sheena Bristol on 444-2901.
