With mother crying…

Dumbbells tendered at Neesa Gopaul murder case PI
THE preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against the Neesa Gopaul murder accused, her mother, Bibi Shareema Gopaul and stepfather, Jarvis Small, continued yesterday.
Special Prosecutor Prithima Kissoon, who called the seventh witness, Lance Corporal Germaine Laundry, made an application to have dumbbells and the post mortem report tendered as evidence.
Her request, to recall the said witness and have other items brought to court for the case, was also granted by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who is conducting the pre-trial proceedings.
As two policemen fetched the exercise weights into the courtroom, Bibi Gopaul stared at the objects, burst into tears and cried silently throughout the hearing.
Laundry is expected to resume his testimony at the continuation on April 7.
The prisoners, who were further remanded, first appeared in court on October 8, 2010, charged with unlawfully killing the former Queen’s College (QC) student between September 24 and October 2, 2010, at Madewini, along Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The girl’s dead body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Madewini Creek near Emerald Tower Resort, battered almost beyond recognition.
