Phone larceny defendant on $75,000 bail

CHARLES Ferguson (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a simple larceny charge.
Particulars of the offence, to which he pleaded not guilty, alleged that, last January 5, he stole a cellular phone contained in a case, with a total value of $76,500, property of Shanella Small.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had gone to a shop and forgotten the instrument on the counter but, as soon as she remembered, she retuned but did not find it.
The Prosecutor said, based on information that the defendant was the only other person in the business place at the time, he was arrested and the phone was found in his possession.
Ferguson was put on $75,000 bail until April 11.
