PNCR, AFC complaint to OAS laughable

THE PNCR, AFC complaint to OAS Deputy Secretary-General Albert Ramdin about comments made by President Bharrat Jagdeo at Babu John last Sunday is, at most, laughable. Gleaning from reports in the media, it is safe to conclude that these parties find Jagdeo’s factual historical comments to be offensive. PNCR’s David Granger and AFC’s Khemraj Ramjattan, in approaching the OAS with this matter, have established themselves as ‘’great pretenders’’, trying to give the impression they are free from moral and political wrongs, are pure and without sin. Ramjattan, in particular, is guilty of provocative politics which highlights his increasing bitterness and hatred for the PPP and its leaders. Almost every day, we see both PNCR and AFC making wild and unsubstantiated accusations about corruption and wrongdoings in an attempt to smear the good names of those who serve the PPP/C Government.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Jagdeo using historical facts to warn Guyanese not to be fooled by those who contributed to the survival of a brutal PNC dictatorship, now under the guise of democrats. Why would the PNCR and AFC have a difficulty with historical facts in the public domain?

The PNCR, AFC complaint to Ramdin is meant to distract us from Granger’s role in the PNC administration while he served the army in the 1970s. Guyanese have not forgotten those atrocities of the PNC regime; and like on previous occasions will reject the PNCR, fearing a return to the horrible conditions of the past.  The 1973, 1980 and 1985 rigged elections by the PNC, among the plethora of other notorious activities, are examples that will scare anyone from wanting to return to those who oppressed us.
No amount of twisting can help these political pretenders wish away the reality, and I am confident that elections 2011 voters will again show the PNCR and AFC the way to the opposition benches.
Every effort should be made to expose the ills of the PNCR and AFC without giving space to their diversionary tactics.
