THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) will be the recipient of mobile police facilities that would serve to enhance its ability to expeditiously respond to people’s needs in downtown areas.The mobile facilities, which will be officially handed over to the GPF later this month, were donated by Omai Gold Mines Limited, Bosai Minerals group (Guyana) Inc. and Guyana Tractor and Equipment Inc. (GUYTRAC).
One of the units donated by Omai and GUYTRAC was placed into position earlier this month (March 6) at the Water Street Car Park and became operational immediately.
This is the second of three units donated by Omai Gold Mines Limited, the first unit being the one now positioned at the Stabroek Market Square.
According to a press release, the third unit donated by Omai and Bosai, is at the disposal of the GPF to be deployed at the Commissioner’s discretion and is now in the Mounted Branch Compound at Eve Leary.
The mobile units were modified and converted for Police use and refurbishment works were performed by GUYTRAC and Bosai at a cost of $10M dollars.
